RE: [doc] Car Tracing.

I think due to 'data protection' etc; you can't get that info even from DVLA
unless you have a very good reason.  It might be worth calling them (haven't
got the number to hand unfortunately) or going on the DVLA website and
contacting them by email.
I watched someone hit my lovely old 1958 Ford Prefect many years ago then
run into their house once they realised what they'd done.  When I knocked on
their door and confronted them, they refused to give me their details or
admit liability unless I let their friend repair my car.  So I went straight
to the library, looked them up on the voters roll and claimed against them
through the local court.
I'd also give your insurance company a ring and let them know what has
happened, as insurance companies 'talk to each other' and they may be able
to contact the driver directly through his insurer (assuming he's insured of
course).  The Police will probably want to talk to the driver too, as he has
(I'm sure Mark Bourne will confirm) committed an offence by leaving the
scene of an accident.

Subject: [doc] Car Tracing.

Group; Off Topic I know, however does any one know how to trace a cars
registered address from the reg number? The reason that I ask is that
someone has this morning run into the back of my daily car and driven
off. Not bad damadge just a new rear bumper required. I did get the
number and have reported it to the local police, who confirmed the
make (saab) and the car is registered locally. However I would like to
know the owners wherabouts, not for anything sinister!! just to give
them the option to pay for the repair rather than going thru insurance.
If any one knows how this can be done either themselves or thru
someonbe else I would appreciate your help. e mail me privatly if you
prefer; chris@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Thanks
Chris
