Re: [doc] -new accumulator update

Put a fuel pressure tester on and test the system according to the book instead of second guessing what it could be.

What you have proven in your swapping plugs is that the 12v at the grey plug has run the cold start valve dumping some fuel in the inlet manifold.

Make sure you get 12v at the CPR. Measure across the pins of the CPR itself (about 20 ohms, if not then open circuit and it needs replacing).

Make sure fuel pump runs at all, bridge pins 87 and 30 at the RPM relay (large black with blue, 6 pins) to run the pump all the time to see if this starts your car.

Rough guide, gently press the fuel metering flap down, if there is some resistance then chances are you have fuel pressure built up ok, if it is very floppy then you don't have enough fuel pressure there. Get a friend to crank engine while you hold this down to bleed/ prime the system.

BTW the lambda system will run when the engine is running (assuming that the fuel eco is powered up from relay 12 that is powered from the RPM relay 87b) but it runs in fixed duty cycle until the lambda thermal switch goes off and the oxygen sensor is warm enough (about 5 mins of normal driving, not idling). The frequency valve at the right hand cylinder cam cover near the bulkhead when looking at the car from the back should buzz when the engine is running.

Jumping the fan sensor will prove the fan circuit is OK, but it won't prove that the switch operates. Listen out for the fans and note the temperature so you don't overheat.

Go through the list methodically and you will get the answer.

Oh, make sure No1 fuse is OK and is seated correctly.

Hi all

after a busy saturday, managed to check a few things.

swapped cpr plug and cold start plug and hey presto...engine
starts...

stop and restart ok.....great.

now into the swing, start swap plugs back, car runs for 2 mins then
chugs, revs up and down then down and...stalled
restart run for 10 secs then stalled.

than would not restart.

so from this i reckon pipe not kninked, electrics ok...so i am
beginning to think change/clean the CPR so that is my next task.

can anyone rebuild these in the UK?. i will take off hoeses and blow
through with compressed air to clean mesh screen.

i also jumped the fan sensor and they work fine. tightened the
handbrake caliper now holds on my sloping drive.

undone passenger seat runners but seatbelt bolt in the way. seat
will not move forward or back on runner due to rust.
any good ideas.
i am removing runners to bead blast and paint. i have a spair set of
seats to install.

anymore ideas for my running problems please post.

i have ignored the lambda system (o2 sensor etc) as this does not
kick in untill warm?? is this correct??

i do think its a fuel pressure issue.

regards

Steve
