Best to ring the garage beforehand so it is logged on thier computer system/ books just in case you get stopped. Then it is down in writing just in case the policeman/ woman doesn't believe the "just taking to garage officer" excuse.

Licence plates are a different kettle of fish and have been the
subject of many posts. Use of an improper licence plate (or none at
all) may get you some points, but no insurance will get you a very big
fine and very big premiums when you do insure.
