As for Bricklins, I had for years wanted to own one just so I could compare
it to the DeLorean (and get pictures of the two, doors up, side-by-side in
my driveway). I finally got my chance - a few years ago I picked up a very
low mileage car for only $4,000. Another DeLorean owner and I were going to
go halves on it, but at the last minute he chickened out. It was a very
early car, ugly Suntan color, with the AMC drivetrain. It still had the
slow hydraulic doors and some significant damage to the top of the door
skins, but otherwise was quite nice. But it was like driving a Javelin. It
also felt like a thrown-together kit car, and it got many more comments than
the DeLorean ever did - only they were all negative. The one I loved was
that it "looked like a Saab eating an eight-track tape". Anyway, it was
probably the worst car I have ever owned, and after a long two months or so
I was able to persuade my formally reluctant "partner" to take it off my
hands. And in keeping with my often-repeated statement of having "never >>

On the Bricklin issue,I must say as in any car there are always lemons, and
you happened to get the lemon in the pack, there are also Deloreans that are
lemons,
I happen to own two Bricklins, and I love them as much as I like my
Deloreans, just because you had a bad experience with one Bricklin, don't make
it sound as if all Bricklins are cobbled together cars, you must remember,as
with any older sports
car it depends on how well the pervious owners abused or how well they took
care of the car,a friend of mine just bought a Porsche 928(
1979)(62,000miles)and the car looks and runs better than a new Porsche,I have
seen and driven abused Deloreans
and let me tell you, when a Delorean is abused and negeleted,it is no better
off than a abused Bricklin.Don't put down a perticular car unless you have
more than one experience and years(at least 5years)with ownership of that car
to qualify you to put down that perticular car.And I have had a minimum
ownership of both the Delorean and the Bricklin 18 years.
