As I peer into my stainless steel ball I see...
"Hey Farrar... I have all kinds of drain plugs for that fit both the
oil pan and your transmission pan on my specialtauto.com site. We have
magnetic an non magnetic. You also need to change out the sealing
washer on the plug every time. You will get a new one with any plug you
buy from me and I also include the good puffy washers with every oil
filter I sell! Come in by the site, you can get a new magnetic plug
that uses a standard wrench on my Engine Products page...

I just wanted to see how close I could come to his reply before he
actually posted it. Cheers John!

I have seen many ingenious creations that have been made to channel
the oil out of the drain into a catch pan so it doesn't get all over
the frame. If you do it hot just let it drip and then wipe it off. The
epoxy wipes cleanly. If you try too hard to not be messy you can be
amazed at the mess you can make! You DO need the correct adapter for
the drain plug. Using a homemade piece of junk can munch up the drain
plug and make it much harder next time. The plug can also be replaced
with one that doesn't require an adapter. If possible try to get a
magnetic type.
