If you are considering using a vacuum pump most are plastic and you
CANNOT remove hot oil with them. The "best" way is to drain the oil
from a hot motor, the flushing action removes the sludge and dirt and
metal that collects on the bottom while most of the dirt is still in
suspension in the old oil. The vacuum units give you the impression
you don't even have to get under the car to change the oil. They seem
to forget you still have to change the oil filter! Besides, when you
are under the car you get a chance to inspect things that normally
can't be seen.
