If I were to purchase a classic exotic I would want one with the
lowest amount of mileage as possible. I assume that by committing to
the purchase of a 25+ year old car that it will need a substantial
amount of $$ and time invested in order to keep it at a desirable
level of performance, prsentability and reliability anyway. If I'm
going to invest any of my money on a car then that car must be perfect
or well on its way to being so, thats just me. I bought my Delorean
about 5 years ago with 89 miles on it and still spent thousands on it,
a lot of which had little to nothing to do with non use. Today it has
less than 1000 miles on it and I know when I send it up to Rob's that
it will still cost me a few grand. It's the nature of the beast.
Why would I buy a run down exotic? Being what they are they are
already a losing proposition why start an uphill battle? The fun is in
enjoying the ownership, not wishing I waited for the right car at
first sign of a catastrophic failure. Sports cars are unreliable out
of the box I know I've owned dozens. Buy the best you can a low-
mileage great shape car that you are going into "Eyes Wide Open"
They're great and costly.
