Ahh! Now I understand the pistons.
Before doing anything else you may just want to take the car to a
dyno and have them use a wideband O2 sensor to tell you what's
actually going on at this point. Making further mods or adjustments
without knowing what's happening is like trying to drive
blindfolded. The dyno time could be the best $100 you spend on this
project.
With luck, you may be pleasantly surprised to find the old K-Jet is
doing just fine, or you may learn otherwise. But there's just no
substitute for knowing.
There are some pretty cheap ways the turbo guys use to coax a little
more fuel out of a stock K-jet which may be all you need. If you're
falling way short of headroom though, you may need to do something
more drastic.
