The only way I could get the hood opened was to put the car up
on a lift, remove the driver's side tire and disconnect the brake
master cylinder from the firewall to get room and push out the rubber
brake fill plug. Since I have the masonite board under my carpet it a
bit acquired to move it out of the way.
I've never had to do this, so I appreciate Rick's experience. This is the
first I recall anyone describing the procedure from experience.
Let me just add that if you go by the picture in the manual, it looks like
you poke a wire straight up. That's just because of the angle of the
illustration, which leaves a lot to be desired. Since you're reaching to the middle
from the driver side, naturally you're reaching in at a steep angle.
