GM decided at the onset to have the vehicles returned at the end of the
lease, which began in 1996.  That kills your arch nemesis theory.  I stated
this before; the S-10's were given only to government agencies and were
supposed to be returned to GM as well.  They can decide what to do, since
they own the product, and if people don't want to do it they don't have to.
I don't see how Toyota or Ford choosing another route has anything to do
with this, except supporting some unfounded conspiracy theory.

 

I don't know why GM pulled the A/C controllers from the cars. I would guess
it's more due to liability so the cars can not be driven anymore and GM
risks getting sued.  If it is a patented design you can get that from the
patent archives.  The EV1 in the Crawford Auto Museum in Cleveland, OH still
has the A/C controller in the car as of right now.  It took me five minutes
to verify that, so that kills another one of your conspiracy theories.
Aren't facts a bitch?  The batteries have been removed since the car is
inside, just as they remove gasoline and disconnect batteries from regular
cars.  The car is fully functional and all they have to do is reinstall the
batteries and it can be driven as intended.  They also have a Ford EV van
but it is a full cut-away display so it was never driven.  You can see the
electric systems in that van in plain view.

they haven't updated the page.  There are several other cars not yet listed,
so again, no conspiracy.

 

So, another conspiracy theory of yours was killed by your own statement
below.  Previously you stated no one can get these A/C controllers and
anyone in the EV community would willingly plop down $10k for one.  If the
A/C controller is nonexistent, why does the Tesla Roadster have it as you
stated below?

 

Gee, maybe there is no conspiracy at all.  What a shocker!  Show me hard
core, actual proof there is some conspiracy going on and I will consider
changing my mind.  I have presented facts here and all you have presented is
conspiracy theory.  Besides, if Big Oil wanted to make more evil profit all
they would have to do is buy out Big Battery and they would have the market
cornered.

S-10s, the Renaults, (yes, see the movie) the Ford EVs and a number of 
the Toyota EVs

to destruction of SINGLE prototypes is a ridiculous comparison. 
Prototypes generally are not complete vehicles. They all have custom 
parts and sheet metal.

The EVs were mass produced vehicles.

If you saw the movie Who killed the electric car?

You would see the well documented lack of maintenance.
In fact, GM required the cars be checked every 5k miles. They were 
shocked by the lack of any wear or need of replacement parts!

Yes, a few of the S-10 , Ford EV trucks, and Rav 4s still survive, But 
these were NOT leased vehicles. They were sold to private parties who 
refused to give them back.

As for the EVs in the museums-GM REMOVED THE AC DRIVE TRAIN! 
(Also-shown in the movie) so the cars could not be driven. WHY?

BTW, guess which drive train is in the Tesla? AC Proposulsion. GEE, 
maybe it works. OR maybe, had these EVs not been shredded and GM 
stopped supporting them- YOU could go to AC propulsion to get them 
worked on.
Hmm? Competition?

Well, Gee a company in Pheonix now services the NiMH batteries in the 
S-10 trucks. Yes, there was a market that GM and the oil companies 
wanted to try to kill.
