RE: [DMCForum] Number of DMC Forums.

Exactly. And I will again state that the only way you will be able to
convince folks to move is to -actually- demonstrate that your better
technology, better organization, and better structure will better meet
the needs of the D community.

You can't refuse to build it first, by saying that it will further
splinter the community. It will not splinter anything if you build it
first, but don't allow any new users to join.

Show the forum/list admins that you actually HAVE built a better
structure, and then invite them to be a part of it. Get their input,
and then get them to buy into the idea.

It's just a proof-of-concept type of thing. It is going to be essential
that you have it up and running with all of the features you envision
before anyone is going to seriously consider a transition.

I'm not trying to dissuade you from trying, I am being realistic. You
absolutely MUST prove to the folks out there that it can be done, and
that it can be done as well as you say, before anyone is going to make a
commitment.

Hear, hear.

I agree with everything Ryan has said today, and I even resisted
replying to Dave's long email with the same comments almost verbatim.

Ryan is fostering discussion, and that's exactly what we need if this
goal is ever to be accomplished. Nay-saying it and telling people to
move on is counterproductive and needless.

Here's the procedure as I see it:

1. Discuss unifying online DeLorean community.
2. ???
3. Profit!

The only thing that will reveal 2. is more of 1.

Jon Heese
