RE: [DMCForum] Re: [OT] Battlestar Galactica...

OK...so here is the deal (its easy, but still has multiple steps)

1. Sign up for a good newshosting company. Your ISP does not usually
retain posts for more then a day or two and has slow servers.
Newshosting.com retains for 4 weeks on their unlimited accounts and is fast
as all hell!
If you want to be a nice person, please sign up for news hosting and use my
referral link:
https://controlpanel.newshosting.com/newssignup/signup/index.php?r=5182
<BLOCKED::https://controlpanel.newshosting.com/newssignup/signup/index.php?r
=5182&unlimited=TRUE> &unlimited=TRUE I basically get 10% back for each
referral..... once you sign up, then you can be a referral agent and get
your friends and family hooked also and make some % back. ;)

2. No newsreader program is needed! You can use a site called
NEWZBIN.COM. Its about 25 cents a week for an account there. They index
all the posts to the groups, and create an NZB file for you. you download
the NZB file which has headers and pointers to all the segments you want and
the groups they are posted in. (*you can use their service for free, but
they only post a 24 hour retention of certain groups....e-mail me off the
list if you want to try it with my account to see what it is like.)
3. Download NZB-O-Matic (100% free...just search for it). Install it and
you are ready to rock
4. Set up your credentials for Newshosting.com (or giganews) in NZB-O-Matic
5. Take the NZB file from newzbin.com and open it with NZB-O-Matic
6. Click on connect, and go get a bite to eat, or watch TV. It does all
the work for you! It downloads the file segments you want for your binaries
from multiple groups and is 100% automated!!!!! SOOOOO EASY!!! (My
friend downloaded over 320gb in under two weeks....just because he could)
7. Once you have downloaded your segments, you just unrar them (using
winrar....much like WinZip) and you are done
7a. If a file segment from the winrar file set is missing or corrupt, you
can use the PAR2 files (parity files) to fix or re-build missing files!
When you download the NZB, it usually downloads all the RAR files and a PAR
set as well. PAR2 files are used with a program called quickpar which is
free and readily available on the net.

Here is a LOT more info if you want it, but seriously....you will never use
torrent again...EVER!

Let me ask this: What apps do you all use to snag binaries off of
newsgroups, and where are some good groups?

I've tried a few apps (such as Binary News Reaper) and rarely get
anything worth keeping. The retention on my ISP's servers is too low
and I don't have time to babysit BNR every day, manually scouring for
files... I'd prefer something that lets me setup a search criteria and
automatically downloads anything meeting that criteria, every day, all
day.
