Re: [DMCForum] ATTENTION: New DMCForum policies (Jon)

As Marc pointed out, it was never *explicitly* intended to discuss
Bricklins or TinyURL or General Lee Crown Vics or VideoBob's view on
women either.  But that's what it was perfect for.  The First Amendment
argument is moot, of course; no one's saying we can't argue religion and
politics out on the street or in another group.

No one got all uptight until the mob started making a big stink about
the Politics and Religion junk.  I rarely participated in the
discussions, but I liked to hear everyone's viewpoint and I didn't get
my panties all in a wad if I disagreed or "got tired" of hearing it.  I
just deleted the email.

As I understand it, the original intention for this group was for
DeLorean owners to get together and discuss anything, free from
moderators and rules on the content.  This may or may not be the
expressed intention of the group as its webpage states, but I'm not
really interested in arguing that anyway.

Really, the point is: adding moderation (however infrequently deemed
"necessary") betrays what I thought was the central point of this group.

Regards,
Jon Heese
