[DMCForum] Re: DeLorean Space Shuttle? (Erik)

Space Shuttle, Skylab, Mir, Space Station -- they're all low orbit
projects and not terribly impressive, though it is neat to keep people
in space for 6 months at a stretch (it's also impressive to keep them
underwater that long, eh Rich?). Apollo was impressive. A Shuttle
launch also pales in comparison to a Saturn V (I watched Apollo 17
launch at night -- very impressive. Also watched Apollo/Soyuz launch
on a smaller Saturn).

The Space Shuttle has very limited payload capacity. That's why
rockets are used for all heavy lifting (they're more reliable too).

I just can't believe how fragile the stupid thing is. Just like a B-2.
Or contemporary housing for that matter. I don't think anyone builds
anything that lasts anymore.

they can fix the ship they sailed in on...then turn around.  whats the
point.  I know they do more than that, but how much more?  there's
only so many hours in a day.  Seems like a waste of time and money to
me.  I have to admit, the show they put on was a pretty good one.
Some of the shots they got were amazing.
