For awhile, my D had a bad thermostat that was stuck open. It would take 
forever for the car to warm up and get to the point of needing the fans. 
However even in 40 degree weather, the fans would kick on when sitting at 
idle long enough from stop and go traffic! He's lucky the engine hasn't 
ceased yet!

I too feel sorry for the next owner of this D.
