Re: [DMCForum] Re: Videos

Mark, all of what you are saying is absolutely true.
I buy items at wholesale, in some cases I modify them, repackage them,
write manuals for each product, advertise it and mark the price up.
That is all absolutely true.
There is a cost to doing business, and an average markup.
What I don't understand is why it is when I do it, it is "highway robbery"
but for everyone else it is just business?
I don't run a charity here, and there is no charity in indulging people
with DeLorean collectables.
These are toys, and should be paid for.
I am running a business Marc.

This is the standard retail business MO.
That's how it works, wholesale, retail.
The reason I make $8 off a $2 cost of a DVD is because I spent several
thousand
dollars on a DVD duplication system, with a thermal printer, a color disc
printer,
a $15,000 computer that runs all this stuff, and I also had to acquire the
video,
edit it, clean it up, compile it and store it.
Then I have to pay to advertise it, pay for my website, pay for monthly
bandwidth,
pay for ebay and Paypal fees..... so you see it is not all found money.
I run a television production studio here.
Besides that, I have to take the time out of my day to drive to the disc
supplier
and invest into stock, I have to take the time to burn and print the discs,
put them
in envelopes, fill out the labels and take them to the post office.
It might not be ditch digging work but it is time consuming.

I consider it a service, the people who get to enjoy watching this wonderful
video
are thankful that they got to see it. Otherwise it would not exist and they
would
have gone without.

You know, you always mention my LED's and how I mark them up.
How come no one has ever mentioned that Don Stegar sells a similar set for
$39.99?
This is $10.00 more than mine.
I am willing to bet that almost everything he sells is marked up generously.
This is not a jab at Don, I like Don, but I am proving the point that your
prejudice
is biased because I have never heard you complaining about anyone's else's
prices.

By the way, Tamir does sell a copy of his own video from his site.
It is very good and I recommend it.
He also sells the replacement stainless steel labels, or at least he
advertises them.
I also bought a set of those.

I feel that the ability to buy this stuff from each other is a great
privilege.
I also think that I deserve the chump change I get for profits off of my
stuff.
If not had been for my researching the LED's and bringing them to public
awareness
some of you would not have figured out how to circumvent me.
Either way I feel I get the credit for it - because NO ONE else was offering
these.
I feel the same way about my side stripes, no one else took the time to find
the material
and make exact replicas of the stripes - people COPIED me but I still
deserve the credit.
I have never seen anyone else make vinyl bumper letters before.
The ones I make look fantastic, and only $10.00.
You could not get those designed and cut out for $10.00 anywhere - no way.

Plus, as a gesture I don't charge for shipping of my products.
Most sellers gouge the shit out of you with "shipping and handling" - NOT
ME.

So as business goes, I think I do good business Marc.
I think my prices are fair, and my quality is good.
I don't see what it is I am doing wrong and why you don't like it.
There is no other explanation other than you had disagreed with me in the
past
and had become biased against everything I do.
It is childish and silly - cut it out.
