[DMCForum] Re: DeLorean MPG (Marc)

Don't pull a Martin Gutkowski on me...

Comparing the PRV to any other engine doesn't advance its MPG issue a
bit. Throwing unrelated engine examples around only confuses things.
The question isn't "how does a PRV compare to other engines?" The
question is "is 30 MPG possible in a DeLorean equipped PRV?"

I'll grant you my carb does run richer than F Series K Jetronic, but
since F Series is too lean to begin with that is hardly a liability.
And the real world effect is almost negligible -- when caravaning I
buy about a gallon more fuel than the stock cars (8-10% drop in fuel
economy). To me it's worth hundreds times more than that to avoid all
the crap associated with K Jetronic.

I've jetted my carb as lean as I can go without a hard transition from
idle to throttle, at least given my current accelerator pump (which is
set at maximum travel). If you look closely at Pigeon Forge pics, the
pump was set at minimum travel because combined jetting was .096".
I've managed to drop it back to .092", but anything less jerks as the
throttle plates open. I'm sure my single plane intake manifold doesn't
help matters.

But since the plugs look beautiful I'm not going to worry about it.
The car has cosmetic issues that are much more pressing.
