Thanks Toby.  I'm pretty sure I've got them right then.

It's getting there.  I've been going over all my black plastic parts in
the engine bay and luggage compartment with Griot's Bumper & Trim
Reconditioner (http://www.griotsgarage.com/search.jsp?searchtext=11183)
and it's doing a marvellous job.  It takes a few coats to get it good and
smooth over 25 year old plastic, but it's all ending up looking almost
new.

I'd played with things like Black to Black before, but they only look good
for a couple of weeks before they wash off.  This Griots stuff is a nice
real plastic dye that should last for years.  I'm really pleased with the
results.  I've even been using it on things like the rubber bumper strips
the hood closes down onto, and it makes them look brand new, too.
