RE: [DMCForum] Back to SUV!

Actually I don't currently own an SUV, only my truck, D, Jag, and the
minivan.  I have owned several SUV's in the past i.e. Jeep Grand Cherokee,
Dodge Durango, and 2 Ford Expeditions.  I have also owned several cars, and
while I am sure if we went against each other in my truck or SUV and your
Taurus, you would be able to avoid our collision.  But let me ask you...
Given everything being equal, would you rather be hit in a car or an SUV?  I
still stand by my comments, as long as there are bigger cars out there
rolling around with inexperienced drivers, why would I want to be in that
collision in a small car?  Lets also add one more positive to the SUV area
-- visibility.  I can see a whole lot better in an SUV or truck.  I would
venture to bet there is a study that will tell us that a truck/SUV can avoid
certain accidents better because they can see more of what's going on around
them.  How well will you fair being t-boned at an intersection with your
car?  My truck will fair much better.

We can argue all day long the virtues of cars and SUV's, but lets face it,
SUV's and trucks are not going anywhere so get used to them and both have
their camps.  I for one am of the mindset of an accident is a matter of time
and I want the best chances for my kids, so on comes the Hummer in a few
weeks (Oh God I mentioned Hummer, you will jump on that one huh?).

Also in response to your comment about the steamroller, well that's just
silly.  I want as safe a vehicle I can within reason, didn't we discuss the
absurd monster truck thing weeks ago?

Jack,

Would you like to put your SUV against my Taurus in a
contest of accident AVOIDANCE??

Her son is an inexperienced driver.  Most likely, HE
would be the cause of the accident due to inexperience
or irresponsibility.  Giving a kid a truck is just
giving them more power to destroy whatever they hit.

And, I suspect I am safer in my Taurus than you are in
your SUV if we were both hit by another *CAR*....
So your theory is because the other guy has a hummer,
you need a steam roller??
