It's the difference berween 10 spline and 21 spline clutch discs.

10 spline are much sturdier. You can actually use the input shaft to
guide the transmission back to the engine. 21 splines are weak and
will deform with nothing more than the turn of a STUBBY length wrench.
No joke -- you absolutely can not feel them bending (versus a 10
spline, where you use binding action to signal which opposing bolt to
turn next).

In the bad old days, you could slide the transmission back, let it
rest on the crossmember while you replaced the disc & pressure plate,
then pull it back to the engine with its own mounting bolts. Worked
like a charm. With these new import transmissions, however, everything
has to be treated with velvet gloves.
