Yeah, that is true Rich.  John Hervey needs to change the kind of epoxy he uses to hold his suction screens together.  The stuff rots & crumbles probably due to the wicked junk they put in fuel nowadays.  

PJ Grady sells what I think is the perfect solution.  It has a custom lathe-made aluminum fitting that adapts between the hose & the screen.  The screen snaps onto it just like it was meant to attach.  This means no epoxy to come loose & jam the pump.  When you need a replacement screen, you keep the PJ Grady fitting and snap on a new screen.  These screens are common items that you should be able to find locally.
