This already happened twice last year. Years ago, Ford Motor Company
let their trademarks for "GT-40" & "Futura" expire. So when they went
to try and reuse these names on two of their new cars, they got their
asses handed to them. By some dude who was selling GT-40 replica parts
(or something), and Pep-Boys who for many years offered their own
brand of Futura tires.

Now Ford has to sell the "Ford GT" & the "500" as their new car models.

Better yet, some guy here in town owns the trade mark, "Las Vegas". He
sells a line of merchandise that bears this name. And his people walk
the strip and souvenier shops on a regular basis, looking for items
that infringe upon his trademark. I used to work for Ethel M.
Chocolates years ago, and worked @ "M&M's World" down on the Strip.
Multiple times the store got legal threats from this guy, for
copyright infringement, on these two shirts that they were trying to sell.

If your company has the words "Las Vegas" as a part of it's name,
that's acceptable. "M&M's World Las Vegas", "Las Vegas Motor
Speedway", things like that are fine. Things with just the word
"Vegas" is acceptable too. Shirts that say, "I got lei'd in Vegas", "I
was a Jack-Off in Vegas", "My parents went to Vegas, and all I got was
this lousy shirt." are all acceptable as well. But anything that just
has the words, "Las Vegas" on it, and are not included in some unique
name, he owns the rights to. Snow globes, dice, postcards, etc...

And now you know why you see the EXACT same slum being sold in every
store out here...
