Re: [DMCForum] De Lorean appearance...

Woah,. calm down bud.
We are cool.
Don't get your panties in a bunch.
Let me clarify: I was using the royal "we".
Sorry, I didn't mean "you" - just generalizing.

"My Standards"?
I don't expect everyone to have a like new car.
Don't confuse what I am saying.
I just expect them to be presentable.
I am talking about the really BAD cars.
The cars where all the paint is gone off the fascia, and they are warped to
death.
The dash's that look like a desert road and the seat shredded showing bare
foam.
The window switches that are ashy white and the carpet that is stained or
faded....
I saw some cars at the PF show that made want to cry.
You know what a crappy car looks like.
Don't lie to yourself.
If you saw a DeLorean like I described for the first time, would you buy it?
These things are so easy and cheap to fix and yet some people just leave
them
this way for many years.
Maybe the problem is that they are not informed and don't know about the
vendors and parts available to them.
That is what these web communities are for.

Yes, your family should hold priority over a car.
No doubt.
That is my point though really, if you can't afford the toy then take care
of business first - THEN PLAY.
This is a reason I have opted not to have kids.
I consider myself the one of the most responsible people I know, because I
have not let
myself become trapped with kids and debt.
Most Americans are drowning in debt, having kids they can't afford,
and not living out their dreams.
So maybe it's time to look at your budget and life plan.
(you don't want me to go Dr.Phil on your ass because I am brutal)
Does your kids have a college fund?
How is their life and health insurance?
Do you have a retirement plan that automatically deducts from your pay?
Do you have more or less than $10,000 in debt (not counting mortgage)
Is your house payment more than you can afford or you renting?

If you are having trouble with any of these questions then you might need
to sell the toys.

I have almost no debt, I have no credit cards at all.
Everyday I get them in the mail and shred them.
They are nothing but trouble.
If I can't buy it for cash then I don't need it.
I own two houses and live in one of them.
I own 5 cars and one motorcycle, so I have other primary vehicles.
.... I am not trying to brag (although it is fun) and I am not trying to
sound better than you or anything, but simply saying that I am not calling
the kettle
black, I have taken care of my shit first, then I got the toys and I when
things are beyond
my grasp I cut them out.
This is why I have decided to sell the KITT car.
It is just an extra project that needs to be done at a later time and other
things
in my business take priority so off it goes.
My toys do have a pecking order.

If you have a DeLorean you can't afford  it stems from having a budget
problem
It means that your priorities are not in line.
It means that you are sacrificing things your family needs in order to
serve your fantasy of having an exotic sports car that maybe you can not
afford.

This has been my point all along, these are TOYS and nothing more.
Sure, once you get them tweaked they are reliable daily drivers but not as
tight
as a new production car.
They are not priorities, have nothing to do with work and do nothing
for your family. Ask your wife what she REALLY thinks about the car
and see what she says.
I bet she would rather you sell it and use the money on her!
(most women don't want the world, they just want your half)

So don't get mad at me because you can not afford to fix your car.
I am not in control of how you make or spend your money, and I am not trying
to judge you. I am not saying that you don't take care of your family, I am
just
saying that if your hobbies are becoming a financial burden then maybe you
need to reorganize.

Work first, play later.
Hey man, I didn't just wake up and find all this shit in the driveway you
know.

Here is the most valuable information I was ever given.
There is a difference between earning money, and making money.
When you work a wage, you are earning money.
When your money makes money for itself, then you have made profit
without working for it.
See the difference?

Hey man, I am not busting your balls, I am trying to help really.
I would like to see you do well and make your family happy and yourself too.
No hard feelings okay?
If your goal is to fix up your car (we) will try to help you every way we
can.
That is what the community is for, coming together and finding solutions.
See you in Houston.
