[DMCForum] Re: The Delorean has left the building

Who knows. George Barris is basicly a hack, who hasn't build a car
since his brother Sam died. He just makes money by licensing out TV &
Movie cars, and taking credit for other peoples work.

The only reason no one challenges his work, is because those who
would be in such a position are dead. Face it, the 1950's were a LONG
time ago. Even on a recent documentary I watched about the history of
Hot Rods in SoCal, even the dude from the Peterson museum was
reluctant to really talk about the Barris Brothers "pioneering"
ofcustomization, as they really were not the focal point of the
scene. It's like trying to say that Fab Five Freddy single handedly
invented Hip Hop & the culture that surrounds it. It's a key word,
because of creative marketing.

Take a look @ Barris' website. Anything that he can genuinely lay
claim to, he's got listed in his Gallery collection, with a story
behind each one when you click on it. Otherwise, the rest is all
deception. I mean, come on. He lists the BTTF DeLorean, as well as
the DOH General Lee, and the Starsky & Hutch Ford. Come on now, WTF
did he *kustomize* on those cars? Camera mounts?

Between hacks like Barris, and assholes like Boyd Cottington, no
wonder people abandoned American cars, and went with customizing
imports. Thankfully, there are people like Chip Foose to set them all
straight, and get people interested in the craft again.
