VW Jetta (was Job for Flavia? ) WAS:Re: [DMCForum] Re: Tom's DMC12... for sale!?

Actually the Jetta itself most people think about is the 4 cylinder
automatic or 5 speed econobox, which is the image it usually has.

Once you toss in the VR6 engine and the 6 speed with the suspension
options, you will start to have a REAL nice Jetta.

Then if you want a pocket rocket, go for the Jetta GLX, every option
under the sun, suspension, body kit, wheels. Nothing like the typical
Jetta that most people think of.

Plus most Jettas are good for 400-500k miles under normal maintenance,
like most VW's. The TDI and other VW diesels are almost
indestructable. VW's 1.8 4 cylinder, or the 1.8t version is probably
the toughest 4 cylinder engine around.

I was also confused by all of the negative talk on the Volkswagen, who
in most areas, makes a far superior car than most for the price
nowadays. Maybe most people have the 80's stodgy design of the
Volkswagens lodged into their memory?

If you get the oppurtunity to drive one or test drive one, you will
fall in love with the VR6 or the 1.8t with the 6 speed manual. More
power than you would imagine coming from a VW.

Oh and that 24 month warranty was only for wear items that most people
abuse with new car warranties, like wipers, tires, seating surfaces,
incidental trim, etc. The car itself comes standard with 10 years
100,000 miles no deductible. They just limit the incidental stuff that
the lazy people try to have replaced because they didn't take care of it.

Volkswagen is a great company, even better than most foreign cars in
it class. Plus if you want an even better VW, make sure to get
Wolfsburg editions, those are the ones from Germany, the standard VW's
are now made in Mexico.

Hope this cleared up a bit of the VW confusion. As a lifetime VW
driver, I can attest they are great cars, and can take a helluva lot
of abuse and keep on rolling. The 84 Diesel Rabbit I recently sold
because the body was falling off of it was still running beautifully
at 287,340 miles, while still pulling 40 mpg on and 84 engine.

Can't beat that.
