I had fish around under the throttle plate assembly to feed the plug
wires through. Big intake hoses are all in the way too. I'm used to
wires that simply lay across the top of the engine -- less than a
minute apiece to install.

Distributor is only accessible straight down from above (is burried
between the air hoses, throttle assembly, and plenum. Forget simply
reaching across to click on a wire. And there isn't room for two caps
side by side -- my preferred method of ensuring firing order remains
intact. 

Plugs themselves were complicated by heat shields, engine hoist
brackets, and the air injection tubes, which I suppose isn't EFI's
fault but I'm going to blame it anyway because I'm cold and irritable.

Regarding my leaking valve cover gasket: there is absolutely 100% no
way to get the passenger valve cover off with that air plenum in
place. It overlays the poor thing completely. You can't even see the
upper bolts.

I can tune up a carbureted 460, including thermostat and every single
water hose (I loop just two contiguous from the block to the heater
core in lieu of those silly pipes bolted to the passenger valve
cover), in well less than one afternoon. Don't even get me started on
V belts versus a sepentine one...
