[DMCForum] Re: DeLo EFI (B280/Chrylser 3.0) -- Marc

Even though valley width is identical, I believe intake ports are
different shapes or sizes. Remember someone on the List having
problems retrofitting K Jetronic on an Eagle 3.0 (same idea in reverse).

If your Camaro was running a Quadrajet, it's no wonder you had no end
of trouble with the thing. They are notoriously unreliable. So many
owners were adapting Edelbrocks (which are really square bore Carter
design -- AFB I believe -- manufactured by Weber) that Edelbrock
ultimately made its own bolt on spread bore Quadrajet replacement.
That's the only spread bore they make BTW (us Ford owners still have
to use an adapter plate, which is no big deal because it simply
replaces the hated EGR spacer. Need something to provide clearance for
cruise control bucket).

What size engine is in your Mustang? If it's the inline 6, simply
throw a 1 barrel Carter YFB on it. Will be the last carb you ever buy.
If it's a 2 barrel 289 or such, try a late model Motorcraft. Of course
there was no such thing as a spread bore back then, so if it's a
square 4 barrel you should pick up an Edelbrock ASAP -- now.

One of my long range goals is to carburete a B280. Looks to be an easy
intake manifold mod. Would be fun to try it on 10.5:1 compression
(like one of my 460's). Even fire too. I've already located a suitable
victim in a junkyard in Hagarstown MD. Now if I only had money...
