I am under the impression that bare stainless steel gets
hotter than black painted cars.  Someone needs to bring one
of those little IR temperature guns to a DeLorean car show
and see if this is true.  I want to use one of these devices
to check who has the best muffler heat shield.

Actually, the trick is to go barefoot.  {hides under desk
while people throw shoes}  Okay, okay, but serioulsy -- the
more exposed skin you have, the better your body can cool
itself.
