[DMCForum] Re: Bogus Delorean motor on eBay????

Looks very close to Renault Z7V. In addition to the fuel lines, note
what appears to be Series 038 CPR and adjacent fuel dampener (Martin
claims fuel dampener is Renault only). Fuel distributor is aluminum,
with external balancing screws AND ABSOLUTELY NO PROVISION FOR LAMBDA!
That's an auxiliary air valve where you're used to seeing an idle
speed motor (I mounted mine remotely on the driver's firewall to
improve access to the ignition distributor and plug #4. Was non-stock,
triggered manually anyway). If you look closely there's no idle vacuum
cutoff solenoid to the distributor. In fact the whole engine should be
set up to run full centrifugal advance, timed at 10 degrees BTDC. It
may well be high compression too, which could be worth the price of
admission alone. Those grey caps on the brass manifold screws pop on &
off (screws are not shear head). Did you notice the bracket for a
cruise control cable?

If you're considering this engine, note that it probably can not be
set up for CIS. Under the air filter there may be no place to mount a
microswitch, and the throttle plate lever should be missing the upper
screw to activate it anyway. Ports should also be missing in the
internal water pipe for various sensors.

I sometimes miss my old Renault block. Drove like a bat out of where?
Someday I may patch the hole in it and drop it into another vehicle.
Don't miss that stupid K Jetronic manifold, however.

Another auction worth considering is #4508490108. You could drive home
your "new" B27F rather than hauling it. B27 is a fine engine, BTW.
Don't believe the old wive's tales about camshaft problems etc. Is
identical to B28 except for slightly smaller bore, integrated throttle
plates w/o deceleration valves, NO LAMBDA!, etc.
