The only tools I habitually carry are one each of the two screwdrivers, 
a small socket set with 5-14mm sockets (on a 1./4"), and brake fluid 
because I know my clutch hydraulics are dodgy (will replace when I do my 
engine conversion).

as long as the pulleys are strait and the belt's tight, you shouldn't 
have a problem. I've seen several water pump pulleys that wobble due to 
someone trying to pull them off in the past.
