Re: [DMCForum] Ignition upgrading

Hey Louie,

I just did this a few months ago- Before you start to disassemble- label
everything! I made diagrams, notes, and labels using a label maker for
the vacuum and fuel lines. Reassembly was cake.

I have DMCH's Nology ignition setup- very nice. Something I forgot to
think about but you might want to do is to replace the distributor pulse
coil while you're in there. Also, I used John Hervey's shielded ignition
cable to go from the coil to the distributor- I figured that would help
with radio noise.

Also, this may be crude, but when I changed the water pipe I spilled
water all over the engine. I couldn't get the water out of the deep
crevices, so I used some old tampons stored in my house (sorry everyone,
I'm not trying to be funny, it's just a logical solution!) to clean up
the mess.

Don't forget anti-seize compound on the bolts when putting them back on!

Good luck,

Eric Itzel

Subject: [DMCForum] Ignition upgrading

Hi List,

I'm about to take off my intake manifold to replace some vacuum
components on my car, and I figured while I am in "the valley of death"
that I'd just go ahead and replace and upgrade all the components  in
the area. I'd like some advice or experience on upgrading my ignition
system. I'm looking at all of the components John Hervey has, the bosch
+4 platinum spark plugs, custom blue silicone 7 or 8mm plug wires, and
one of his performance coils. I'll also be replacing my cap and rotor,
in addition to all of my o-rings, vacuum components, and hoses while I'm
at it. Does anyone have any thoughts, experiences, or preferences among
these performance ignition options? I know there was some worry about
radio interference and the like with some of the spark plug wires.
Thanks in advance!
