I'm not sure I could ever do a ceremony, but just knowing if someone really
wanted me to do it, I could.

My father did the same thing - not sure if it's the same church - in
order to perform a wedding ceremony for a friend a long, long time
ago. When my wife and I were married, I wanted him to do the ceremony.
My mother would have none of it, so we got an actual priest and a
Catholic church (we were "faithless" at the time and just going with
the status quo on my mother's side of the family).

Looking back, I should have told her, "Too bad, Dad's doing it anyway.
My wedding, remember? My decision."

But that's OK. I love her anyway.
