I bet your problem is due to a pulling force being left on
the linkage that releases the front latch.  With increasing
tension left on the latch release linkage, the lock/unlock
linkage becomes increasingly harder to operate.  Before
correcting with adjustments, find out exactly what you
changed to make adjustments necessary.  Perhaps your new
hardware is leaving tension on the bell crank.

Keep in mind that most problems with the front latch
sticking are due to the exterior door handle.  If the cable
from it leaves any tension on the bell crank, this will
likewise prevent the front latch from unlocking.  You
probably found a problem when unhooking any linkage allows
the bell crank to further relax.
