Bad news -- God doesn't work like that anymore (John 13:14, 1
Corinthians 12:27-28a, etc). Should we screw it up, He may well come
back to sort out the pieces. Otherwise, we're at a point in human
history where God has handed the assignment to us. We're going to act
like Jesus' hands and feet, doing all those things he would do himself
if he could be here. Exciting, isn't it (world's largest urban renewal
project, and we're in it from the foundation up). 

Martyrdom simply removes an otherwise useful player from team. Better
to pick up your hammer and follow him... (Mark 8:34, more or less).
