I'm not a huge fan of SuperTrapps, but the big problem is I need them to be
only 6-7" long.

Have you thought about http://www.supertrapp.com/ ?  I could see the heat
from the discs deforming the rear fascia if they weren't out far enough.  I
have seen and heard these on muscle cars and street rods, but I hope it
wouldn't give the ricer look.
