[DMCForum] A/C and ECU

I took my car in to have two issues looked at:

(1) My running-funny problem.  Despite all my efforts (replaced CPR,
checked for vacuum leaks, etc) my engine is still very rough when
cold, and hesitates and jerks quite a bit until it warms up.

The mechanic said my problem is most likely my ECU (first he said CPR,
but I told him I just replaced that because I thought that was the
problem too).  He said I should get a new ECU, and that the last 3
digits of the unit should be #116.  I've suspected, in my darkest
dreams, that the ECU may be the problem here, but haven't replaced it
because it is the most costly item that could be causing this problem.
I wanted to try everything else first.

(2) My A/C compressor is cycling on/off quite frequently, about once
every 4-5 seconds when I'm cruising (between 2000 and 3000 RPM), and
stays on for long periods when the car is idle.  The mechanic checked
the pressure and said it was good, and it stays cold at 38-40 degrees
F while A/C is on.  According to him, my A/C is fine.  But the cycles
seem a little short to me.

Anyone want to comment on these?
