I knew it wouldn't take long for someone to ask - it's a Renault Z7U 
engine from a 25 turbo. Although the 25 wasn't particularly fast, it's 
exactly the same engine, apart from the intercooler piping and the 
engine mounts, as a Z7W from an Alpine A610, which put out over 300hp, 
so it's only a rolling-road session away from similar performance 
(though I won't take the piss - the brakes need to be as good as the 
performance IMO).

I'm keeping the stock tranny because it bolts strait to the original 
bell-housing.
