Ah I see. My first oil filter was a "Wix" brand that was a freebie 
from John Hervey. I am now running the Purflux that supposedly has 
this check-valve in it. I did observe a rubber membrane over the 
circulation holes that the Wix brand filter did not have.

That's very interesting to know.
