Actually, my car has the same hole and I too wondered what it was for. Does anyone have any idea? I have only removed the passenger side rear quarter panel though, not the driver's side. If you look directly into my hole you can see the Craig sticker on the speaker magnet. Someone mentioned the vertical vents on some early cars being functional as well but mine are not. What would this have been for, air flow over the engine cover to reduce heat?
