John, are you sure that your other door panel is fiberglass?
Factory original was either paperboard like the headliners
or gray brittle plastic.  (This goes for both upper & lower
door panels.)  I like the paperboard better.  At least those
don't crack & shatter like the plastic ones.

I think you could repair torn fir tree holes by
riveting/gluing little sheet aluminum pieces over the
damaged area.
