Rich, if your pickup hose is collapsing, I think you would
hear the fuel pump complain.  I recommend the new one from
PJ Grady.  It's bullet proof to modern fuel.

As for your loss of power, is it temperature related?  If it
only does it when cold then I would suspect a bad CPR or the
frequency valve isn't working.   Did you get a fuel pressure
gauge yet?  Buy, borrow or steal one and hook it up like it
shows in the Workshop manual.

So what did you find?  The worst I've seen so far is a bunch
of dark gray fuel spilling out of the input line when I took
it off.  This was a friend's high mileage daily driver.
