I read where someone suggested laying the spark plug, with the wire connected, on the block and seeing if you get a spark when you turn the key. I am sure you were careful of the fuel, but did you get the spark? I would bet you it is something simple and you are just not seeing it right now. Walk away for a bit and you may have your 'ah-ha!' moment. Where are you located?
