travis, recomeded step 1 to me and i opted for step 2 because i had to
prove this car will not beat me....i suffered a loss of 6 hours, a broken
wiper motor arm which will now require 2 more hours of work and another
$100, and a dryrotted clutch hose that leaked all over the garage :-).

the problem was my bushing was hard plastic and would not bend around the
column shaft....

the winner: step 1 travis :-)
