RE: [DMCForum] the marque and electric De Lorean comparison...

I think every vehicle manufactured these days has parts from all over the
world but people still see GM cars, for example, as domestic and will only
buy domestic American cars. GM recently purchased, or at least purchased
a
controlling share of, Daewoo based in Korea. GM announced it will be
dropping some of their lines, one I recall is Oldsmobile.

Someone on this list posted a link to an article about how JZD thought
dropping these established names was a very bad idea and that GM should
badge-engineer some cars, essentially importing these cars and labeling
them
with well-known strong brand names. That could further blur the lines of
imports and domestics. Please let me know if I am stating this
incorrectly.

And when I was looking at a Chrysler Sebring, part of it was made in
Mexico!

I think the "World Economy" is already partially in existence, and the
labels
of "import" and "domestic" should be discarded. Then again as far as I'm
concerned insurance companies can all take a long jump, anyway. *snarl*
