[DML] Re: Battery Charger usage question

The best connections for charging a battery are on the battery itself.
There are some pro and cons to charging a battery in the car.
That also depends on the battery type (acid/lead or another type).

Leaving the door (and battery compartment) open also reduces the damage by fumes from the battery (acid/lead types can do that) amd help keep the battery cooler.

Using the jump start post and engine block may reduce the effectivity of the charging (bad connections in the wiring/ground).
A closed battry compartment has little means of getting rid of the eventually produced fumes.

Charging away from the car is always good, but IMO not necessary.
