Thinking about this further: do the bulb and the heating element use the same harness connector? I don't have an OEM cigarette lighter on either of my cars so I can't check. If the harness connectors are the same, then they are simply reversed.

NAPA sells Orange jacketed wire which is close enough to OEM to keeps things decipherable (IMHO OEM wire looks more Orange/Red than Red/Orange)
