It appears somebody just wired the bulb to the heating element right next to it (Purple, not to be confused with courtesy light Purple, which takes off from Fuse 12 -- there are two Purple circuits under the console). OEM was Red/Orange, which is keyed to the light switch. If you want to rewire cigarette illumination to OEM, there is a Red/Orange junction at the extreme rear of the console (passenger side) you can tap into, and the rheostat is also used as a junction point. NAPA sells Orange jacketed wire which is close enough to OEM to keeps things decipherable (IMHO OEM wire looks more Orange/Red than Red/Orange)
