Re: [DML] fuel sending units

I recently had to replace a sending unit and fuel pump assembly in my 2007 Yukon. On that wonderful piece of American engineering the fuel filter (the ONLY filter) is built into it inside the tank. No way to "just" replace the filter. The dealer wanted $400 just for the part, more if I wanted to replace the fuel sending unit. I went to gmdirectparts.com and snagged it for $170. I reused the level sender. The wonderful part about all of this is I had to drop the tank to get to the top to R & R the assembly. Actual replacement took all of 5 minutes. Dropping the tank and sticking it back took 2 hours. It is a nice piece of engineering with the springs and all. I did think that if someone was to reengineer the fuel tank that this would be the way to go. At least in a Delorean you can get to it EASILY! Yes, you do have to get a pump with the right flow and pressure specs and a level sender that can work with the Delorean fuel gauge but that can't be very hard.
