Re: [DML] Carburetors suck.

John Marconi is still running a bone stock exhaust system. I don't think he is running HEI either.

Home made intake manifolds are closely modeled on my own sand cast manifold:

ID of the intake runners is identical to K-Jet: 1.3875" (my own manifold has square intake runners, so it moves a bit more air). Home made manifolds also are dual plane, whereas my manifold is very much single plane (big common plenum underneath the throttle bores).

Lost in all this arm waving and gesticulating are a few basic facts:
1) Every person I have helped came to me as asked for assistance. Converting to carburetion was their idea not mine.
2) Every single person I have helped did extensive research and carefully weighed the pros & cons before converting (kept them occupied while I fabricated their manifold)
3) Every single person I have helped did their conversion in one afternoon. Those with otherwise roadable cars were driving them on their carburetors the same day.
4) Every single person I have helped seems satisfied with the outcome (no one has converted back to K-Jet or asked for a refund)

Carburetion is an option -- period. Considering the amount of reconfiguring involved (new fuel pump, new fuel line, and new fuel filter/bracket in addition to the manifold & carb itself), it is surprisingly affordable. And as stated above, it is surprisingly quick and easy to install, with no unpleasant surprises at the first key turn.
