It also helps that the floor was engineered lower..the seat tracks were engineered as low as possible..along with also not having a tall and wide sill..makes your butt drop right into the seat..and even when you shut the gullwing door,the interior headroom was extended and increased with the headliner actually butting up against the door skin,giving a few extra inches for cranial space.

Try sitting in a Lotus Esprit and you will know what a Delorean would be like without some of the above..and no gullwing doors.I owned one for a while..it was NOT fun to get in and out of it..(the damn wide and tall sills and the low roof-line got to me)but a great driving/handling car.
